Early on Thursday evening, the people from Gro\u00dfau who had traveled to the event met in the “Pockesg\u00e4rtchen” to sing traditional folk songs accompanied by our brass band and to get into the mood for the meeting that was to take place at the weekend.<\/p>\n

On Friday and the days before, the rooms and green areas were prepared, the dishes were collected and washed, the newly renovated parish barn was decorated and all the necessary cleaning and tidying work was done. Many thanks to all the volunteers. <\/p>\n
On Saturday, the welcome by the HOG board took place in the parish barn, followed by an open discussion in the church on current topics (members, current status of the renovations, etc.). This was followed by a walk to the cemetery accompanied by the parish priests Konrad Schullerus and Mathias Stieger and our brass band. An early evening performance by the Transylvanian youth dance group (SJD-Reisetanzgruppe) then heralded the festive part of the meeting and the guests were treated to a delicious “Kalbstokana”, also accompanied by our brass band. On Sunday, a church service was held at 10:00 a.m. according to the Transylvanian liturgy, followed by a memorial service and the laying of a wreath in front of the Heroes’ Monument. As a special feature, our Gro\u00dfau hymn “Un biden Awer des Zabeng” was sung on the banks of the Zabeng for the first time at the Gro\u00dfau meeting. In front of the Christ Stone in the castle wall, we were once again supported by the brass band. After a shared lunch of a “Ciorba de vacuta”, the afternoon flew by with coffee and cake. This was followed by an “open singing of traditional songs” with great participation and enthusiasm. Special mention should be made of the great willingness to donate to the various activities, many thanks to the donors. After the brass band music had finished, the guests were surprised by a visit from the band “Schlagertaxi” with Erhard and son Robin Bartesch, Fred Elst and Gert Ongert from Gro\u00dfau. With their dance music and vocal interludes, they ensured an unforgettable get-together until the early hours of the morning. <\/p>\n
On Monday lunchtime, the traditional “Schw\u00e4nzchen” was served and there was also a lively turnout for the subsequent clean-up. We offered a horse-drawn carriage ride for children and young people, which was very popular with both the youngsters and the older generation. <\/p>\n
So this 7th Gro\u00dfbauer meeting in our home town came to an end, leaving behind unforgettable and wonderful memories of interesting encounters, also with guests from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This meeting was held under the motto “Inauguration of our parish barn”, we hope for many more happy celebrations. <\/p>\n
